Effective December 24, 2025
The United States Postal Service (USPS) is moving the postmark process from local application to regional sorting centers. This means a piece of mail dropped off at the local post office is no longer postmarked until it arrives at a regional sorting center, Green Bay for the Marathon Post Office.
What this means for taxpayers
A tax payment dropped in the mail on or near the property tax deadline, January 31st for full payments or 1st installments, could be postmarked several days later. Under Wisconsin law, your payment must be postmarked by the due date to be considered on time.
How to Avoid Late Payment Penalties:
Mail your payments well before the tax deadline of January 31st.
Bring payment directly to the Village Office Monday thru Friday, 7am – 4pm.
